GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Metropolitan Swimming and Diving Conference announced its selections for the Dick Krempecki Senior Awards on Friday.
Tricia Thomas of TCNJ was named the women's award winner by the conference.
Thomas becomes the first Lion to win the award in over 20 years. The award is given annually by the league's coaches to honor the senior that contributes the most to their institution, team, the conference, and the sport of swimming. The award in named in honor of long-time St. John's head coach, Dick Krempecki.
Thomas, a biomedical engineering major, finished seventh in the 200-back, 13
th in the 200-free, and 16
th in the 500-free at the MET Championships in 2020.
In addition to the conference awards, the Lions handed out team awards at their virtual banquet last weekend.
Carolyn Mazzacco earned the Brenda E. Campbell Team Before Self award.
Sarah Burton was selected the team's Rookie of the Year.
Jamie Bowne was the Lions' most improved swimmer.
Zoe Chan was named Most Valuable Swimmer.
The team also announced team captains for the 2021-22 season will be Mazzacco, Chan,
Haley Crispell, and
Rachel Hannah.
