TCNJ Tops NJAC With 256 All-Academic Team Honorees

PITMAN, N.J. – The New Jersey Athletic Conference announced its all-academic teams for the 2020-21 school year on Thursday. TCNJ once again led all schools in the conference with 256 all-academic honorees.

To be eligible for the NJAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior, or senior who has competed in a conference-sponsored sport while achieving a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20. First and second-team selections were made by each of the league's 10 full-member institutions.

The Lions' First Team All-Academic selections were Nicki Meskin of the women's swimming & diving team and Griffin Morgan of the men's swimming & diving team.

Meskin, a recent graduate and a physics/secondary education major, completed her academic career with a 3.97 GPA. In the pool, Meskin earned three all-conference honors as part of TCNJ's NJAC Championship squad this year. Meskin was a Second-Team All-NJAC honoree in the 1,650-free and 800-free relay. She also took home an All-NJAC honorable mention in the 400-IM.

Morgan is a recent graduate from the men's swimming & diving team who completed his academic career with a 3.93 GPA while majoring in mechanical engineering. In the swimming pool, Morgan took home five all-conference honors including four first-team ones to help the Lions bring home the NJAC Championship. He was an All-NJAC First-Team honoree in the 500-free, 1,650-free, 400-free relay and 800-free relay.

In 2020, Morgan earned CSCAA All-American honors in both the 800-free and 200-medley relay. He is the TCNJ record holder in the 400-IM with a time of 3:57.07 that he achieved in 2019.

Zoe Chan and Kevin Christensen were TCNJ's Second Team All-Academic recipients.

Chan, another member of the women's swimming & diving team, completed her junior year at TCNJ this past year and owns a 3.79 GPA. The speech pathology major earned NJAC Swimmer of the Year honors as well as seven First-Team All-NJAC awards this year. Chan was a CSCAA All-American in 2020 and holds the TCNJ school records in the 200-fly as well as 200-IM.

Christensen wrapped up his sophomore year as a member of the TCNJ men's cross country and track & field team. The civil engineering major owns a 3.70 GPA. He earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase this season for track & field. Christensen also took home Second Team All-NJAC recognition in the steeplechase. On the cross country side, Christensen was a First-Team All-NJAC honoree as a part of TCNJ's conference championship team.
