NEW YORK, N.Y. – Megan Gasnick won the 400-meter dash and helped the 4x400-meter relay to another strong performance as the TCNJ women's track and field team hosted the Lions Indoor Invitational on Saturday at The Armory.
Gasnick came in about a half-second ahead of a sprinter from Academy of Art with a time of 57.31, one of the best of her career.
Amanda Demko also qualified for the finals heat, placing fourth at 1:00.18.
The Lions also posted a pair of place-winners in the 60-meter hurdles.
Eliza Bruncaj finished third in 9.44 seconds, while
Kaela Edwards took fifth in a career-best 9.54; the rookie had clocked a then-PR 9.57 in prelims.
Alli Uhl shot past her previous PR by over 2.50 seconds in the 500, where her time of 1:17.31 was good for fifth overall. Teammate
Erin Hanlon finished in 1:22.65 (11
th overall) in her collegiate debut.
Maria Grill unlocked a new PR in the 200-meter dash (26.25) and was the top finisher for TCNJ in the 60-meter dash at 8.12.
Ashlyn MacLure was just off her PR with an 8.24 and
Liz Lam crossed the line in 8.34.
Salini Iyer was sixth in the mile (5:23.40), where
Kelsey Kobus rounded out the top-10 at 5:32.83.
Zoe Iovino was fourth in the triple jump (33-1.75), while
Kayley Harnett achieved a new personal best in the high jump, tying for fourth place with a clearance of 5-1.125.
Nicole Lester placed fifth in the pole vault, clearing 10 feet on the nose.
Edith Gonzalez finished sixth in the shot put (35-0.50), and
Kerri McCarthy was 10
th (29-4.50).
Jean Walter was eighth in the weight throw (40-0.00), and
Emily Diszler recorded a new PR (35-10.75).
Gasnick, Demko, Uhl, and Grill teamed up to take second in the 4x400-meter relay to close the meet, finishing the race in 3:56.81 to lower the NJAC's best time by almost six seconds.
The Lions return to action next Saturday at Alvernia.
