Men's Swimming and Diving Drops Showdown at No. 19 Rowan

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The No. 15 TCNJ men's swimming team came up just short in a showdown of nationally ranked NJAC programs at Rowan on Saturday, with the No. 19 Profs getting the best of a 167-133 decision in Glassboro.

Ethan Weiss won both diving events to headline the afternoon for the Lions (3-2, 2-1), who took their first conference loss of the season. Weiss won the 1-meter with 261.90 points and racked up 282.25 in a dominating 3-meter effort.

Andrew Thompson, Patrick Sullivan, James McChesney, and Dixon Kahler were runners-up in the 200 medley relay at 1:33.81.

Lukas Blach went nearly stroke for stroke with Rowan's Toby Cahnbley in the 1000 meters, but the Prof managed to touch the wall first by less than a second with a time of 9:42.03.

Blach had a similarly close call in the 500 free, losing out on victory by a measly .22 seconds to Rowan;s Alex Volin.

Thompson was sensational in the 200 free, winning by more than three seconds with a clocking of 1:42.50.

Jonah Herring was runner-up in the 100 back (53.53).

Sullivan and Shawn Kushner treated the crowd to the one of the most entertaining races of the afternoon in the 100 breast, where Sullivan managed to touch a mere .02 seconds ahead of Kushner to claim a nail-biting victory with a mark of 58.77.

Kushner got his glory in the 200 breast, where his time of 2:07.80 was nearly 3.50 seconds faster than Rowan's runner-up. Ryan VanDeVeen finished third in an even 2:12.00.

McChesney (21.25) and Kahler (21.56) took third and fourth, respectively, in the 50 free, and McChesney came back a couple heats later to place second in the 100 free (45.87).

Ryan Higgins (1:55.05) and Herring (1:59.10) went 2-3 in the 200 back, and Thompson (50.13) and Andrew Walter (52.94) did the same in the 100 breast.
Higgins came through with a pulse-pounding win in the 200 IM, edging Rowan's Joe Rucci by one-hundredth of a second to win with a time of 1:56.84.

McChesney, Matt Watts, Kahler, and Thompson closed the meet with a first-place effort in the 400 free relay (3:07.40).
