PITMAN, N.J. – After a staggering performance at the Metropolitan Conference championships, the TCNJ men's swimming and diving team swept the NJAC's weekly awards.
James McChesney (swimmer of the week),
Ethan Weiss (diver of the week), and
Shawn Kushner (rookie of the week) were all recognized for their monumental efforts in leading the Lions to their first MET championship since 2015.
McChesney was the star of the weekend, earning rookie of the meet and co-swimmer of the meet laurels and breaking two program records over the four-day championship. He shattered the school record with a 43.81 to win gold in the 100 free, also adding the 200 free gold to his collection. McChesney, who also contributed to two winning relays, re-wrote the TCNJ standard in the 50 free as well, where his clocking of 20.06 was good for silver. He currently ranks second in the country in the 100 free, seventh in the 50 free, and 17
th in the 200 free.
Kushner turned in a terrific performance in his first conference meet, leading all rookies in scoring. The first-year won both the 100 breast and 200 breast, hitting NCAA B-cuts in both, and also placed fourth in the 200 IM. Kushner was the only rookie in the NJAC to win multiple events.
Weiss secured his eighth diver of the week accolade after winning the 1-meter dive and placing runner-up in the 3-meter. He was the highest finisher from the NJAC on both boards.
