INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Zoe Chan ended her spectacular TCNJ women's swimming career with the two best swims of her life, breaking her own program record in the 200 fly prelims and re-breaking it in the finals to finish in third place at the NCAA Championships on Friday night.
Chan came in with a seed time of 2:03.71, a program record she established at the Metropolitan Conference Championships. She blew that out of the water with a stunning swim in the prelims session, touching the wall in 2:02.04 to take third and comfortably qualify for Friday night's A-finals.
The senior did herself even better in on the biggest stage, lowering her mark to 2:01.60 to garner a bronze medal and first-team All-America honors.
With Chan's incredible effort, TCNJ earned 16 points and moved all the way up to a tie for 22nd in the team standings.
Chan's third-place swim was the best individual performance by a TCNJ swimmer at the national meet since Laura Pierce placed third in the 100 fly at the 2011 NCAA championships.
Chan leaves TCNJ as an all-time great. She was a two-time NJAC swimmer of the year, a CSCAA All-American in the 100 fly in 2020, and a 10-time NJAC swimmer of the week. She owns program records in both the 100 fly and 200 fly.
