GENEVA, OHIO – Alli Uhl secured a new personal best and came within a whisker of qualifying for the finals of the 800 meters as three TCNJ women's track and field team members competed in individual events on Day 2 of the NCAA Outdoor Championship on Friday at SPIRE Institute.
Uhl crossed the line in 2:10.10 to place fourth in her heat and 10
th overall, a little more than a tenth of a second back of the ninth and final qualifying slot for Saturday's championship. The time was the best of her career and good for fourth on the program's all-time performance list.
Uhl also ran the 800 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championship and was making her second career individual appearance at the national meet.
Amanda Demko and
Maria Grill made their individual debuts at a national championship meet by competing in the prelims of the 400-meter dash. Demko placed 12
th in 56.79, while Grill was 19
th at 57.56.
All three Lions will be back in action on Saturday as the outdoor championship wraps up. Demko and Grill will join
Ashlyn MacLure and
Valandra Riggins in the 4x100-meter relay championship at 12:05 p.m., while Demko, Grill, Uhl, and
Eliza Bruncaj will go for gold in the 4x400-meter relay final at 3:50 p.m.
