EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ women's swimming and diving team competed hard throughout day one of the 2023 TCNJ Invitational on Friday.
Led by a pair of individual victories and a top relay finish, the Lions ended the evening's finals session with 272 points for a second place team standing.
TOP-FIVE FINISHERS
- Kicking off the evening's finals session, the 200 freestyle relay quartet of Lilliana Kuball, Bridget Cleveland, Mackenzie Wall, Katie Mazzacco took the win with a season-best relay time of 1:39.27.
- In the 500 free championship final, senior Captain Sarah Burton touched first with a top time of 5:19.22, which beat out the field by over three seconds. During the early-afternoon prelims session, Burton recorded an even-faster time of 5:18.84, which stands top-five in the NJAC. Freshman Bella Patti had a stellar swim of her own, placing fifth with a time of 5:28.02.
- Freshman star Lillianna Kuball dominated the 200 IM by posting the third fastest NJAC-time at 2:10.88. Junior captain Colleen Scanlon took third with a season-best time of 2:17.71, while sophomore Narayanan took fourth by clocking a 2:18.85.
- In the 50 free championship final, Cleveland touched in second with a stellar time of 25.22 to lead TCNJ.
- The Lions rounded out the evening with a second place finish in the 400 medley relay, as the group of Cleveland, Kuball, Narayanan and Wall finished second with a time of 4:06.46.

The Lions return to the pool tomorrow at 11 a.m. for day two of prelims, before rounding out the day with the finals session starting at 6 p.m. The first day of diving will also get underway starting at 2 p.m.
