T&F Hosts TCNJ Invitational

EWING, N.J.- The TCNJ track and field team hosted the TCNJ Invitational Friday and Saturday at the TCNJ Track and Field complex. Amongst a field of 25-plus teams, the Lions put some seriously impressive marks and times worth noting.
 
Victoria Purritano highlighted the team on Saturday afternoon running the ninth best time in the country in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line at 14.43 seconds. In the 400-meter hurdles, she also came up with a second-place finish as she took a time of 1:04.50.
 
Eliza Bruncaj finished just behind Purritano in the 100-meter hurdles and took third place with a time of 14.88 seconds. In the long jump, Bruncaj
 
In the 100-meter dash, Valandra Riggins took first in the event with a time for 12.24 seconds.
 
In the men's 100-meter dash, Ray Schmitt came up with a third-place finish after finishing at the 10.99 mark.
 
Julia Dakwar had a great day in the pole vault, clearing the bar of 3.10 meters and taking second for the event.
 
 
In the 800-meter run, Roman Rychkov finished third for the event with a time just under two minutes of 1:58.85.
 
Matt Richardson had a very strong day in the 5000-meter run as he came in second for the event with a time of 15:18.93.
 
In the men's and women's discuss, Jessica Reilly and Zachary Mackiewicz each took third in their respective events. Reilly threw to a mark of 35.91 meters and Mackiewicz 45.50 meters.
 
Freshman Sarah Scepkowski took third in the women's high jump after clearing the bar set at 1.57 meters high. Abigail Pfaff took fourth for clearing the bar set at 1.52 meters.
 
In the men's and women's javelin, Alexander Bogues and Annalise Stephens had third place finishes with throws of 51.46 and 32.95 meters respectively.
 
In the men's long jump, Jason Engler finished third with a leap of 6.59 meters.
 
In the men's shot put, George Agyei-Sam, Mackiewicz and Jayden Wright finished in first through third place with distances of 14.66, 14.51 and 14.09 meters consecutively.
 
In the women's shot, Kerri McCarthy put up a fourth-place finish after her throw to a distance of 12.38 meters.
 
The women's 4x400-meter relay of Riggins, Erin Buquicchio, Erin Hanlon and Allison Uhl ran to a third-place finish with a time of 3:59.14.
 
The Lions are back on the track next weekend at the Messiah Multi as well as the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton.
