T&F With Strong Numbers at AARTFC Championships

SELINSGROVE, PA.- The TCNJ track & field team competed at the AARTFC Championships on Wednesday and Thursday, with the women finishing fifth and the men finishing 13th out of a field of 59 teams. Across both days, there were Lions all over the leaderboards that are worth noting.
 
Highlighting the women's team and building off her second team All-NJAC award, Valandra Riggins won the 100-meter title on Thursday with a personal best time of 11.99 seconds. She also took third in the 200-meter final with a time of 25.19 seconds.
 
On the men's side, Zachary Mackiewicz highlighted with a second-place throw in the discus with a mark of 50.26 meters. Not only is the throw a personal best for the junior, but it also puts him at 18th overall in the nation.
 
Fresh off her first-place finish at the NJAC Championships, Eliza Bruncaj took second in the 400-meter hurdles with a blazing time of 60.20 seconds. This crushes the previous school record of 60.89 seconds, and she is ranked fourth in the nation in the event. She also added a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles to her resume for the meet.
 
Keeping up the pace after his first team All-NJAC award in the 5000-meter run on Wednesday was Michael Bond, who claimed third at the regional meet with a time of 14:40.93.
 
Maria Grill was impressive in the 400-meter run, as she finished fifth after crossing the finish line at the 57.20 mark.
 
Tom Domozych had a solid day in the 100-meter final, taking seventh in the event with a time of 10.83 seconds.
 
Cassidy Quinn and Emily Hoegler kept pace well with each other at Susquehanna, finishing sixth and seventh respectively in the 5000-meter run. Quinn crossed the finish line at 18:09.61 while Hoegler was shortly behind with a time of 18:17.79.
 
The Lions who have qualified for NCAA's will gear up for nationals which start Thursday, April 25th at 10:30 AM in Rochester, N.Y.
