ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Representing the TCNJ Men's Track and Field team, the Lions duo of
Jason Engler and
Zachary Mackiewicz rounded out their stellar 2022-2023 seasons after competing in the first two days of the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Taking the national stage for the first time in his collegiate career on Thursday, junior
Zachary Mackiewicz placed 18th overall in the Discus throw after launching his top throw a distance of 45.96m (150-09). The junior rounded out a stellar outdoor season that saw him earn Metro All-Region and All-NJAC distinctions in the event.
Also a first time NCAA qualifier, senior
Jason Engler battled it out over a competitive two day stretch in the Decathlon. Engler rounded out the first day of competition on Thursday in eighth place, before ultimately finishing 14th overall in the event on Friday with 6297 points. The mark stands close to his career-best score of 6374, which was achieved last month at the Messiah Multi Invitational.
The senior's best events throughout the two day span were in the 400 meter dash, in which he placed second with a time of 49.76, and the 100 meter dash and high jump which saw him place seventh in both.
