NEW ORLEANS – Six members of the TCNJ men's track and field team were recognized with All-Academic Athlete honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), which also named the Lions an All-Academic Team as the organization released its annual academic awards.
Alexander Bogues,
Kevin Christensen,
Stephen Daramola,
Jason Engler,
Andrew Lodge, and
Zachary Mackiewicz all earned All-Academic Athlete laurels, which are given to student-athletes with a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher and who meet one of the following athletic criteria:
- Must have finished the indoor season among the top-50 individuals as listed on the descending order list on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top-50 but who participated at the indoor or outdoor national championships are eligible.
- Must have competed as a member of one of the top-35 relay teams as listed on the descending order list on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top-35 relay teams but who participated in a relay at the indoor or outdoor national championships are eligible. Finally, any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions (1 relay per institution) is eligible.
Bogues, an Accounting major, ranked 39
th in the javelin.
Christensen, a Civil Engineering major, ranked 46
th in the 3000-meter steeplechase.
Daramola, a Biology major, ranked 48
th in the shot put.
Engler, a Biology major, ranked 21
st in the decathlon and placed 14
th at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Lodge, a Marketing major, ranked 20
th in the indoor 4x400-meter relay alongside Engler,
Roman Rychkov, and
Tyler Scott.
Mackiewicz, a Music Education major, ranked 40
th in the indoor weight throw and 22
nd in the outdoor discus. He placed 18
th in the discus at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
The TCNJ men compiled a 3.32 team GPA, easily surpassing the required 3.10 for All-Academic Team status.
