Weiss’ Program Record Highlights Senior Day Win Over Red Hawks

EWING, N.J. – The No. 12 TCNJ men's swimming and diving team capped off Senior Day with a 181-114 dual meet victory over Montclair State on Saturday afternoon at the TCNJ Aquatic Center.

The performance of the meet went to junior Ethan Weiss, who dominated on the boards to set a new program record for the 3-meter six dives. As a team, the Lions (7-2) won a dozen total events and recorded a pair of sweeps.

Prior to the meet, the program honored its 2024 senior class of Ethan Dong, Ethan Laible, Jack Marble and James McChesney.

ON THE BOARD
  • Weiss broke TJ Burns' 2012 record for the 3-meter six dives after recording the top mark of 381.23. The program record marks the third achieved in the junior's standout career with the blue and gold. Weiss also won the 1-meter six dives with a top score of 330.98.
  • Fellow Junior Michael Wu had a standout day of his own, officially qualifying for the NCAA Diving Regionals after runner-up placements in the 3-meter at 276.75 and 1-meter at 278.10. The Junior also scored a 439.05 for 3-meter 11 dives.
GOLDEN FINISHES
  • The Lions kicked off the meet with an all-senior 200 medley relay team of McChesney, Dong, Marble and super senior Dixon Kahler. The quartet took the win with the fastest time of 1:35.96.
  • Junior Ryan Higgins won the 1000 free with the top time of 9:51.95, dominating the competition by 28 seconds. The Junior followed up with a winning time of 1:51.91 for the 200 back, which stood six seconds faster than second place.
  • TCNJ swept the 200 free, as sophomore Gavin Formon won the event after touching first at 1:45.32. Finishing behind him were the junior duo of Shawn Kushner and Ryan VanDeVeen at 1:46.76 and 1:47.93, respectively.  
  • The 200 fly saw fellow sophomore Andrew Kidchob cruise past the field with his time of 1:59.31. Kidchob also won the 200 IM after clocking a top finish of 1:58.93.
  • The Lions' second sweep of the day came in the 100 free, with sophomore Richard Park coming out on top with a time of 48.04, while Kidchob touched right after in second at 48.42. Fellow sophomore Brian Bull rounded out the sweep with a time of 48.66.
  • Competing in the distance free, McChesney won the 500 free with a time of 4:43.52, cruising past the competition by 12 seconds.
  • In the 100 fly, Marble clutched out the win by less than two-tenth of a second with his top time of 52.82 seconds.
  • The Lions rolled out an all-senior 400 free relay team of Marble, Laible, Kahler and McChesney which took first with a combined time of 3:17.24.
  • Competing as an exhibition event, the 400 IM saw freshman Pablo Salazar record the top time after touching in 4:04.91, a new personal best.
UP NEXT
With the regular season officially concluded, the Lions will take on the inaugural NJAC Championship meet next month, February 15-18. The meet will take place on the campus of the University of Maryland.
