Men’s Swim/Dive Starts Strong on Day One of TCNJ Invitational

EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ men's swimming and diving team had a strong day one of competition in the 2024 TCNJ Invitational on Friday.

The Lions dominated the evening's finals session, scoring 493 points as a team to claim a first place lead by over 300 points.
 
In the championship finals, the blue and gold took the top-two spots in every race and the top-three in three events overall.
 
The last race of the day featured Andrew Kidchob setting the school record in the 100 back with a 49.21 time as the leadoff swimmer in the team's first-place finish in the 400 medley relay. Kidchob surpassed his old record from two seasons ago.
 
Taking first in individual events was Gavin Formon, Ryan Higgins and Joe McChesney, while both relay teams were also winners.
 
TOP-THREE FINISHERS
  • In the first event of the night, TCNJ's 200 freestyle relay team of McChesney, Bradley Frank, Steven Bendoraitis and M.J. Hoban finished first with a 1:23.46 time
  • Finishing second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:24.76 was Kyle Brushaber, Keilan Moran, Kidchob and Ryan VanDeVeen
  • In the last event of the night, TCNJ's 400 medley relay team of Kidchob, VanDeVeen, McChesney and Hoban finished first with a 3:19.26 time
  • Taking second in the 400 medley relay with a 3:22.21 time was Shawn Kushner, Higgins, Andrew Walter and Frank
  • Third place in the 400 medley relay went to Mason Bushay, Dylan Negron, Robert Young and Brushaber
  • The top three spots in the 500 free went to Forman (4:32.11), Moran (4:35.62) and Bendoraitis (4:38.93)
  • The top three spots in the 200 IM went to Higgins (1:50.28), Tyler McGeehan (1:53.24) and Kushner (1:54.99)
  • TCNJ claimed the top two spots in the 50 free from McChesney (21.06) and Hoban (21.12)
UP NEXT
The Lions return to the pool tomorrow at 11 a.m. for day two of prelims, before rounding out the day with the finals session starting at 6 p.m.
