EWING, N.J. – TCNJ took the top three spots in six of seven races, while also adding the top-two spots in the other event to give the Lions 1162 points and a first place standing after the first two days of the TCNJ Invitational.
The Lions had six winners in five individual events after
Jonah Stein and
Joe McChesney finished in a tie for first in the 100 fly.
Gavin Formon and
Ryan Higgins finished 1-2 in the 400 IM and in the process hit the NCAA B cuts.
The only Lion swimmers to figure in multiple top-three individual finishes were Higgins, with a pair of runner-up finishes in the 400 IM and 100 back, and
Andrew Kidchob, with a first in the 100 back and third in the 100 fly.
Other individual winners on the day were
Steven Bendoraitis (200 free) and
Tyler McGeehan (100 breast).
TCNJ heads into the final day of its Invitational with 223 more points than last year's win after two days.
TOP-THREE FINISHERS
- Beginning the finals session for TCNJ, the 200 medley relay team of Kidchob, Ryan VanDeVeen, McChesney and M.J. Hoban finished with a 1:30.46 time
- Taking second in the 200 medley relay was the quartet of Mason Bushay, Dylan Negron, Andrew Walter and Bradley Frank with a time of 1:32.58
- Ending the finals session with an 800 free relay win was Keilan Moran, Bendoraitis, Higgins and Formon with a 6:49.34 time
- Runner-up in the 800 free relay was the quartet of McChesney, Hoban, Robert Young and Dylan DeWitt with a 6:58.04 time
- Taking third in the 800 free relay was Noah Serrano, Pablo Salazar, Brian Bull and Kyle Brushaber with a time of 7:03.07
- The top three in the 400 IM were Formon (3:54.350, Higgins (3:56.11) and Young (4:06.14)
- The top three in the 100 fly were Stein and McChesney (50.13 each) and Kidchob (50.41)
- The top three in the 200 free were Bendoraitis (1:42.66), Brushaber (1:43.37) and DeWitt (1:45.26)
- The top three in the 100 breast were McGeehan (55.51), VanDeVeen (55.69) and Negron (57.20)
- The top thre in the 100 back were Kidchob (50.09), Higgins (50.55) and Walter (50.74)
ON THE BOARD
- In the 3-meter 11 dives, Ethan Weiss took second on the weekend with a final score of 431.70
