EWING, N.J. – The TCNJ men's swimming and diving team rounded out the 2024 TCNJ Invitational with a dominant first place finish, as the Lions concluded the three-day meet with a staggering 1700 team points on Sunday.
Similar to yesterday's results the Lions swept four of five individual events, while finishing 1-2 in the other during the swimming portion, while also taking a second and third in diving.
Fourteen Lion swimmers took positions 1-3 collectively during the day.
Gavin Formon finished with the current top time in the NCAA during the first event.
TOP-THREE FINISHERS
- The Lions began the weekend's final session with a dominant sweep of the 1650 free. Formon took the win by recording the fastest NCAA time at 15:43.05. Right behind him was Steven Bendoraitis, who clocked in at 16:05.53. Rounding out the sweep was Noah Serrano, who touched in third at 16:23.92
- TCNJ secured another sweep in the 200 backtstroke as the trio of Ryan Higgins (1:46.80), Andrew Walter (1:49.56) and Andrew Kidchob (1:51.89) took the top three spots
- In the only individual event where the Lions didn't secure the top three spots, M.J. Hoban (45.82) and Bradley Frank (46.74) took first and second in the 100 free
- The Lions then swept the 200 breast behind Ryan VanDeVeen (1:59.88), Tyler McGeehan (2:00.70) and Shawn Kushner (2:03.77)
- In the final individual event, TCNJ swept the 200 fly with Jonah Stein (1:52.18), Pablo Salazar (1:52.48) and Keilan Moran (1:52.62)
- Closing out the weekend, the TCNJ 400 free relay team of Walter, Kushner, Ryan Heerema and VanDeVeen took second with a 3:11.10 time
ON THE BOARD
- Ethan Weiss took second in the 3-meter 11 dives event with 431.70 points and picked up a third-place finish in the 1-meter 11 dives event with 436.40 points
UP NEXT
The Lions host a pair of nationally-ranked teams in No. 4 NYU and No. 11 Johns Hopkins in a tri-meet next Saturday.
