12/7/2024 10:22:00 PM

NEW YORK - The TCNJ men's track and field team opened its 2024-25 campaign at the TCNJ Winter Open Saturday night, claiming an individual win and several top-3 finishes in the Lions' first action of the year.

ON THE TRACK

TCNJ got its first win of the season in its first event after Jack Attali took first in the 60-meter hurdles. The sophomore won the prelims before shaving nearly a tenth of a second off his time in the final, finishing in first with a time of 8.19. LeBron Rose made his Lions debut in the event, crossing the line in fifth with a time of 8.57.

Also making their TCNJ debut was Nathanael Crefeld in the 400, with the freshman pacing all Lions runners with a second-place finish in 52.11. Also earning a top-five finish in the event was Aidan Ferraez – the sophomore set an indoor PR with his time of 52.64 to finish fourth – while P.J. Fragomeni (6th / 53.02) and Nate Adams (7th / 53.11) also finished in the top 10.

TCNJ's results were nearly identical in the 300 in which freshman Noah Traverso led the way with his time of 35.12 to finish as the runner-up - both in the event and on the program's all-time indoor charts. Fellow first-years Anthony Senatore and Rose grabbed fourth and sixth in the sprint with their times of 35.44 and 35.63, both good for top-10 on the school's all-time performance list, while Tyrese Gilbert's PR of 36.83 earned  the senior 10th in the field of over 35 competitors.

Saturday's track events concluded with the 4x400 relay in which the all-underclassmen team of Attali, Rose, Senatore and Traverso finished second with a time of 3:23.80.

IN THE FIELD

The Lions found plenty of success in Saturday's field events as well, starting with a pair of top-3 finishes in the weight throw. In their first action of the new season, Steve Daramola set a new personal best mark of 16.56 meters to finish as the runner-up and move into the all-time indoor top-10. George Agyei-Sam came in just behind in third after clearing 15.42 meters.

In the shot put it was Jayden Wright also setting a new personal best with his mark of 15.35 meters to finish second. The junior was followed by Christian Farhat (4th / 14.57m) –an indoor personal best for the sophomore – and Daramola (5th / 14.14m). Both Wright and Farhat vaulted into the all-time top-10 at TCNJ with their efforts.

Elsewhere in the field, Taverso translated  his success on the track into an eighth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 6.09 meters while Tyler Kadezabek and Matthew Corrigan shared seventh place in the pole vault by clearing 3.70 meters.
