Women's T&F Finishes Fifth at Conference Challenge Cup

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The TCNJ women's track and field team grabbed top five finishes in a number of events both on the track and in the field en route to a fifth-place team finish at Saturday's Nazareth Conference Challenge Cup.
 
ON THE TRACK
  • Cassidy Quinn holds the No. 2 spot in the NJAC in the 3000 after finishing third with a time of 10:28.56. The senior passed Scranton's Emily Hopkins in the final 200 to finish in the top three.
  • Kelly O'Grady finished fourth in a field of 36 competitors in the 800, crossing the line with a time of 2:21.94.
  • Rukiyat Daranijo was TCNJ's lone top-10 finisher in the 200, winning her heat and placing seventh overall with a time of 26.84.
  • The Lions also found plenty of success in their relays. Molly Bossdorf, Cameron Ruffini, Alex Grivas and Ava Biemuller combined to finish second in the DMR with a time of 12:44.19 before O'Grady, Mackenzie Burke, Eliza Bruncaj and Daranijo crossed the line in 3:59.35 to finish third in the 4x400.
IN THE FIELD
  • Brooke Valan moved into seventh in program history in the triple jump. The senior cleared 10.84 meters to finish second at Saturday's meet.
  • Jessica Reilly finished fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 15.85 meters while Kerri McCarthy secured sixth in the shot put with a distance of 11.74 meters.
  • Also earning a top five finish was Lia Malave, who finished fifth in the long jump with her leap of 5.22 meters.

  • TCNJ is back in action Friday, Jan. 31 to compete at the Scarlet Knight Open.
