EWING, N.J. – The Lions triumphed in every single event on the first day of the TCNJ Invitational, with
Andrew Kidchob capping it off with a record-setting performance.
Kidchob led off the 400 Medley Relay on the backstroke, logging a lightning-fast time of 48.98. As a result, he broke his own program record for the 100 Back, which previously stood at 49.06. Sophomores
Tyler McGeehan,
Joe McChesney, and
M.J. Hoban followed up Kidchob's performance with strong legs of their own. The group posted a time of 3:16.25, achieving an NCAA B cut as a result.
Overall, the Lions took the top two spots in all championship heats. Hoban, McChesney,
Gabe Beverini, and
Bradley Frank opened the meet with a win in the 200 Free Relay (1:22.11). Beverini added an individual win later in the 200 IM (1:51.30) right after
Gavin Formon's first-place effort in the 500 Free (4:34.53). Finally,
Riley Smith took home a win in the 50 Free (21.16)
After the first day, the Lions sit comfortably in first with 425 points—more than double the point total of Stevens in second place. The teams will return to the pool tomorrow for the second day of the TCNJ Invitational; prelims and finals will take place at 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM respectively.
