NEW YORK, N.Y. – On Saturday, the #14 TCNJ men's swimming and diving team closed out the calendar year with a battle against elite opposition.

The Lions dropped both matchups against #8 NYU and Division-I Fordham. However, the Lions only fell to Fordham by 15 points thanks to some hard-fought 1st-place points against the Rams. Joe McChesney highlighted TCNJ's afternoon with a victory in the 100 Breast (50.02).

TCNJ also had a trio of runner-up finishes thanks to Will Heinze, Pablo Salazar, and M.J. Hoban. Heinze placed in 2nd in the 1000 Free (9:46.39), which was good for 1st-place points against NYU. Salazar had his runner-up finish in the 200 Fly (1:54.46) where he logged 1st-place points against Fordham. Finally, Hoban was the runner-up in the 50 Free (20.97) where he gained 1st-place points against NYU. Later in the meet, Hoban also placed 3rd in the 100 Free (46.72).

Also taking 1st-place points against Fordham were Gabe Beverini and Derin Ozbas. Beverini did it twice, first in the 200 Breast (2:09.26) and then in the 200 IM (46.72). Ozbas did it in the 200 Free (1:43.35), an event in which he also got 2nd-place points against NYU.

For the TCNJ divers, it was Wyatt Marble and Joshua Kosukhin in action in the 1-meter and 3-meter. In both events, Marble and Kosukhin placed in 5th and 6th respectively. Marble posted a 166.00 and 184.65 in the 1-meter and 3-meter respectively, while Kosukhin earned a 155.00 and 155.55.

The next action for TCNJ will be on January 10 when the Lions face off against Johns Hopkins and Washington and Lee.
