HAMPTON, Va. – Beth Evaldi claimed another 1-meter diving title and the TCNJ women's swimming team put two swimmers into A-finals on Saturday night at the NJAC Championships.
Bridget Cleveland (200 free) and
Lilliana Kuball (100 breast) made the top-8 in their respective events for the Lions, who moved up one spot to fifth in the team standings with 585.5 points. Mary Washington leads with 971.5, followed by Salisbury (919), Rowan (640.5), and Montclair State (626.5).
TOP PERFORMANCES
- Cleveland finished seventh in the 200 free, touching the wall in 1:56.63 and landing just a tenth of a second out of sixth. Cleveland's time of 1:55.69 from the prelims session was fourth in program history and the best by a Lion swimmer since 2012
- Kuball finished eighth in the 100 breast, clocking in at 1:07.37; her prelims time of 1:06.83 was just .09 seconds off her personal best from last year's conference meet, which ranks 5th in program history
- Colleen Scanlon was fourth in the B-finals of the 100 back, finishing in a career-best 59.48 seconds to move into sixth in school history. Shaye Bundonis was eighth in the B-finals at 1:01.13, while Narayanan took third in the C-finals (1:01.50)
- Sarah Mandy placed sixth in the B-final of the 400 IM with a career-best 4:42.16, the best time in the event by a Lion in three years
- Nisha Narayanan posted a personal-best 1:00.44 to finish sixth in the B-finals of the 100 fly, eclipsing her previous PR from last year's NJAC meet by .05 ticks. Sofia Hall win the C-final in a time of 1:00.01, a career-best by more than a full second, and Bundonis was seventh in the C-final (1:02.11)
- Scanlon, Kuball, Narayanan, and Cleveland placed seventh in the 200 medley relay (1:49.44)
ON THE BOARDS
- Evaldi established herself as the queen of the boards once more, running away with the 1-meter title on the back of 394.65 points. She was won all three NJAC 1-meter crowns in her career
- The Lions didn't quite achieve the 1-2-3-4-5 sweep they pulled off on 3-meter, but they were close: Melody Lin was runner-up again with a score of 331.60, while Hannah Simons (259.75) took fourth and Jenna Ringel (227.50) was fifth
