Six Lions Selected for NJAC Weekly Honors

4/7/2025 1:11:00 PM

PITMAN, N.J. – A six-pack of TCNJ student-athletes were recognized for premier performances with NJAC weekly awards on Monday.

Lacrosse's Ally Tobler (Player of the Week) and Ashly Herlihy (Rookie of the Week), Baseball's Ryan Goodall (Player of the Week), Softball's Maya Knasiak (Pitcher of the Week), and Women's Tennis' Zoey Albert (Player of the Week) and Elizabeth Ring (Rookie of the Week) were all honored by the league office.

A back-to-back Player of the Week honoree, Tobler tallied a combined seven goals, four assists, 20 draw controls, two ground balls, and one caused turnover as the 11th-ranked lacrosse team secured road victories over Farmingdale State and Montclair State last week. She had four goals, an assist, and seven draws in a 22-10 win at Farmingdale State on Wednesday before pairing three goals with three assists in Saturday's 16-15 NJAC-opening victory over the Red Hawks. Tobler grabbed 13 draw controls against Montclair, just one off the single-game program record. In the NJAC, she currently ranks first in goals (45), goals per game (4.50), draw controls (76), and draw controls per game (7.60). She also leads TCNJ in points (56) and caused turnovers (15). Tobler has now moved into sole possession of 3rd on the program's all-time charts with 323 points and also eclipsed 200 career draw controls.

Herlihy recorded three ground balls, five caused turnovers, and one draw control in the Lions' victories over Farmingdale State and Montclair State. She had a huge game at Farmingdale State, racking up three ground balls and four caused turnovers, and registered one of each in Saturday's NJAC-opening win at Montclair. Now a 3-time Rookie of the Week, Herlihy is currently tied for second on the team in caused turnovers with 14 and ranks third in ground balls with 16.

Goodall went 5-for-9 (.556) with three home runs and 12 RBIs in a monster week for the Lions. The fifth-year slugger also walked 10 times, posting a .789 on-base percentage, and scored five runs to help TCNJ win three of its four NJAC games against Rutgers-Camden and Rutgers-Newark. Goodall went deep in both games against Rutgers-Camden, including the go-ahead solo homer in the bottom of the 8th as the Lions took Thursday's game, 5-4, and a three-run blast in the return game at Camden. He was unstoppable in Saturday's sweep at Newark, hitting a grand slam and driving in five runs in a 20-2 Game 1 rout before going 2-for-2 with four walks and a three-run double in the 11th inning as the Lions pulled out a 6-2 victory in extras to complete the sweep. Goodall earned his second career Player of the Week nod, and first since his freshman season in 2021.

Knasiak tossed a pair of gems in a 3-1 week for the Lions, allowing just one earned run and four hits over a pair of complete-game efforts. The sophomore surrendered two runs - one earned - on three hits with nine strikeouts as the Lions won, 3-2, in walk-off fashion in the opener of Tuesday's twin bill with Stockton. She was even better on Saturday at Kean, twirling a 1-hitter with six strikeouts as TCNJ blanked the Cougars, 3-0. Knasiak is a 2-time Pitcher of the Week for her career.

A first-time Player of the Week, Albert went 7-1 between No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in a 3-1 week for the Lions. Her only loss was a third-set tiebreaker against a regionally ranked opponent Haverford, and she won her NJAC matchup with Stockton by a 6-2, 6-0 score line. Albert teamed with Shruti Mannan to go 4-0 at No. 1 doubles, including a 7-6 (5) thriller against New Paltz on Sunday. Albert and Mannan are a perfect 12-0 in dual matches this spring.

Ring was 6-0 between No. 5 singles and No. 3 doubles. She won her NJAC matchup with Stockton by double-bagel, pulled out a third-set super tiebreaker against Haverford, and staved off three match points in an 8-7 (3) pro-set win against New Paltz. Ring and Gabriella Robinson won all three of their contested matches at third doubles, dropping a total of six games across the three sets.
