Men's Track & Field in Second After Day 1 of NJAC Championships

EWING, N.J. - The TCNJ men's track and field team finished Day 1 of the NJAC Championships in second place, trailing only Rowan entering the final day of competition. The Profs' 98 points lead all teams followed by 58 for the Lions, with Stockton rounding out the top three with 39 points.
 
ON THE TRACK
  • Evan Melito was the first to score points for TCNJ Saturday, finishing in sixth in the 10K with a time of 34:37.66. Also earning points for the Lions were Sean Haggerty and Sawyer Stellitano, who both finished in under 36 minutes to take eighth and ninth respectively.
  • Nate Kidwell put together a strong showing in the Steeplechase, holding off Rowan's Hunter Hughes in the final 400 to cross the line in third with a time of 10:07.81. Senan De Silva (6th / 10:32.80), Jeremy Way (7th / 10:54.16) and Ryan Segalla (8th / 10:58.40) added six more points to the Lions' total.
  • Nathaniel Adams was one of several TCNJ athletes to qualify for finals on Day 2 of the NJAC Championships, finishing fifth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.72 and fourth in the 400m hurdles prelims after crossing the line in 55.16.
  • Joining the sophomore in the 400m hurdles final will be Anthony Senatore and Jack Attali, who took fifth and sixth with a pair of AARTFC qualifying times.
  • Maxim Rychkov was TCNJ's highest finisher of the day on the track, crossing the line in 10.54 in the 100m sprint to take second and easily qualify for tomorrow's final. Also advancing is Raymond Schmitt, whose time of 10.69 earned the senior fourth.
  • Rychkov also finished second in the 200m prelims with a time of 21.33 to earn a spot in tomorrow's final alongside Noah Traverso who finished sixth.
  • Jayvee Dumas holds a 94-point lead after Day 1 in the decathlon. The junior finished second in the high jump, third in the long jump, 100 and 400 and fourth in the shot put.
IN THE FIELD
  • Traverso also earned points in the field, finishing third in the long jump after clearing 6.86 meters.
  • Steve Daramola and Christian Farhat both finished in the top eight in the hammer throw to give the Lions nine more points. Daramola led the duo after finishing third with his throw of 48.05, with Farhat coming in just behind the senior in sixth after clearing 45.02 meters on his first attempt.
  • A quartet of Lions scored in the pole vault in Tyler DeMarco, Matthew Corrigan, Tyler Kadezabek and Elan Krakow. DeMarco and Corrigan cleared 4.15 meters to take fourth and fifth in the event, with Kadezabek and Krakow tying for sixth with their marks of 4.00 meters.
  • Saturday's field events concluded with the javelin throw in which Alexander Bogues led TCNJ with a third place finish following his throw of 56.91 meters. Ryan Mohr came in just behind in fourth after clearing 56.07 meters on his second throw, with Ozzy Olevsky's first mark of 50.20 enough to earn the freshman sixth.
UP NEXT
  • Day 2 of the NJAC Championship is set to begin tomorrow at 10 a.m. with the final decathlon events before track and field events start up in the afternoon.
