EWING, N.J. – TCNJ men's basketball coach
Matt Goldsmith has accepted the head coaching position at Middlebury College.
Goldsmith spent 10 seasons at TCNJ, where he revitalized the program and turned it into a frequent contender in the NJAC. He compiled an overall record of 153-98, leading the Lions to conference championships in both 2020 and 2024 and a trio of NCAA Tournament appearances, including back-to-back bids each of the last two years.
The 2024-25 Lions received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, the program's first since 1990, and locked up the first back-to-back appearances since that year. The 2018 NJAC Coach of the Year, Goldsmith recruited and developed 18 all-conference selections, including a pair of NJAC Player of the Year honorees, and guided TCNJ to three 20-win campaigns.
The move marks a return to the NESCAC for Goldsmith, who won a national championship in 2007 as a player at Amherst. He replaces longtime coach Jeff Brown, who had served as head coach since 1997.
TCNJ will begin a national search for its next men's basketball coach.
