HAMPTON, Va. – The TCNJ men's swimmers put on yet another dominant showing on the second day of the NJAC Championships, winning every event while resetting multiple records.
Andrew Kidchob,
Tyler McGeehan,
Joe McChesney, and
M.J. Hoban weren't satisfied with just one record from this year's conference championships. After taking down the 200 medley relay record on day one, they broke the 400 medley relay record on day two. Today, they posted a time of 3:12.55—beating the previous record by more than three seconds. In that race, Kidchob led off in 48.29, setting a new program record with that split as well.
In the next event,
Steven Bendoraitis claimed the conference crown in the 500 freestyle, posting an B-cut time of 4:26.12 (another new NJAC record).
Gavin Formon placed second in 4:29.23, which was another B-cut time. Matthew Liotti (4:31.87) and
Brian Bull (4:32.97) placed in fourth and fifth respectively as well.
The 200 IM was next, and
Gabe Beverini came out as the winner to stamp his stellar rookie season. He posted a time of 1:49.37, and was joined in the top five by
Tyler McGeehan (3
rd, 1:51.41) and
Pablo Salazar (5
th, 1:52.19).
M.J. Hoban completed TCNJ's day two sweep in the 50 freestyle. He posted a time of 20.05 to claim the event crown for the second year in a row.
Joe McChesney wasn't far behind, as he placed second with a time of 20.85.
With this day done, the Lions will look to continue their dominance tomorrow into the third day of the NJAC Championships.
