HAMPTON, Va. – The #8 TCNJ men's swim and dive team concluded a dominant four-day stretch down in Virginia, capturing their fourth straight NJAC title and fifth straight conference title overall.
On the final day, TCNJ racked up five more event titles and another boatload of B cut times.
Gavin Formon got the day started by winning the 1650 free in 15:34.77.
Steven Bendoraitis placed second in the event (15:43.88).
Next,
Mason Bushay made the podium in the 200 backstroke, finishing in third (1:48.65).
M.J. Hoban then captured a second individual gold of the meet for himself in the 100 freestyle (44.08).
Tyler McGeehan followed up in the next event with an impressive win in the 200 breaststroke. He posted a 1:58.18, beating second place by over two seconds and improving upon his prelim time by over four-and-a-half seconds.
Joe McChesney then broke TCNJ's program record time in the 200 butterfly, posting a 1:47.71 en route to the win. McChesney finished just fifth in the prelims, but roared back to win the individual title by shaving off over four seconds from his prelim time. Another record fell in the last event of the meet: the 400 freestyle relay. There, Bushay,
Gabe Beverini, McChesney, and Hoban combined to set a new NJAC Championship meet record with their time of 3:00.18. The Lions won that relay as well, making it 16 wins out of 20 total events—another NJAC record.
TCNJ amassed a total of 1,709 points, placing ahead of second-place Salisbury by 390. After this stellar showing at NJACs, TCNJ now looks forward to competing on the national stage next month (March 18 – 21).
