TCNJ strokes to eighth win

Wayne, NJ … Junior Joe Tseng (East Hanover, NJ/Hanover Park) won the 100- and 200-yard backstroke events to lead The College of New Jersey men's swim team to a 157.5 and 116.5 victory over William Paterson University.

Tseng won the 100-yard back in 55.93 and posted a time of 2:02.74 in the 200-yard event to help the Lions conquer their eight win in nine meets. Tseng also helped TCNJ win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:41.51.

Freshman Mike Caputo (Staten Island, NY/Curtin) also had a big day winning the 500-yard freestyle event in 4:57.98 1:50 to go along with a first-place finish in the 200-yard free in 1:50.62. Sophomores Jeff Capone (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South), Mike Vernoia (Hillsborough, NJ/Immaculata), and Matt Kaufmann (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Hills) also notched wins. Vernoia won the 1000-free in 10:06.22, Kaufmann took the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:06.73, and Capone seized the 200-yard butterfly in 2:15.41.

TCNJ continues its conference schedule this Saturday, January 30 when they host Rowan University at 1p.m.
