Meet results
Ewing, NJ ... The College of New Jersey men's swimming and diving team flexed its muscle as they coasted past New York University 169-109.
The Lions (3-0) remained perfect in dual meets as they took top honors in the first seven swimming events to race past the visiting Violets (2-5). TCNJ placed first in 11 individual events and both relay races to capture the home meet in dominant fashion.
Freshman
James Shangle (Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park) continues to build upon a ferocious start to his college career. The two-time NJAC Rookie of the Week claimed three individual events and also contributed to the 200-medley relay win. Shangle produced the fastest times in 100- breast (57.98), 200- breast (2:09.78), and 200-individual medley (1:59.36).
Senior
Michael Caputo (Staten Island, NY/Curtis) took care of the distance events as he paced himself to wins in the 1000- and 500-free races. He posted a winning time of 9:58.80 in the 1000- and 4:51.26 in the 500-yard free. Classmate
Matthew Peveler (Woodcliff Lake, NJ/Pascack Hills) was runner-up in the 1000-free with a time of 10:16.90.
TCNJ swept the top three spots in the 200-freestyle event. Junior
Stephen Tarnowski (Ramstein, Germany/Ramstein American) touched the wall first with a time of 1:45.52. He was followed by sophomores
Brian Perez (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) and
Dennis Hall-App (Bloomfield, NJ/Bloomfield). Perez registered a time of 1:47.52 and Hall-App clocked 1:50.18.
Sophomore
Aleksander Burzynski (Colonia, NJ/St. Joseph's) enjoyed a strong meet winning both backstroke events. He reached back for a finish of 53.62 in the 100 and 1:59.24 in the 200. Burzynksi also swam the opening leg in the 200-medley relay win. He joined Shangle, senior
Adam Schneider (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East), and junior
William Kasper (Forked River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan). They won the event in 1:34.55
Schneider went up and back to win the 50-free in 21.29 and Kasper placed first in 100-fly with a time of 53.09. Senior
Evan Paulan (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) also took top honors in the 200-fly with a finish of 1:59.08.
The Lions take a week of before hosting their invitational meet that begins Friday evening on November 30 in TCNJ's Aquatic Center.
