Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's swimming and diving team opened its home schedule in impressive fashion as they defeated Ramapo College 156-95. It marked the second New Jersey Athletic Conference victory for the Lions (2-0) in as many days as they downed Montclair State University last night.
TCNJ won all 12 individual events and both relay races. Freshman
Ryan Gadjzisz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) had a spectacular day in his first home meet winning three events. Gadjzisz took top honors in the 1000-freestyle, 500-free, and 200 individual medley. He won the 1000 in 9:58.88, the 500 in 4:46.73, and the IM in 2:00.56.
Rookie
Scott Vitabile (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) won a pair of events, touching the wall first in the 200-butterfly and 100-fly. He captured the 200-fly in 2:01.80 and 100-fly in 54.32.
The Lions got off to a fast start, winning the opening 400-medley relay event. The team of junior

Joseph Dunn (Fanwood, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood), and freshman
Andrew Nesbitt (Somerset, NJ/St. Joseph's) posted a winning time of 2:34.39. Shangle also won the 200-breaststroke event in 2:09.31 and contributed to the 200-free relay win.
In the 200-backstroke event, Burzynski led the pack with a finish of 2:00.42. Nesbitt won the 50-free event in 21.73, and Dunn finished first in the 200-free in 48.49. Freshman
Vince Masciandaro (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) placed first in the 100-breast in 1:00.98 and also took second in the 200-breast. In the 200-free, junior
Brett Pedersen (Sewell, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) registered the fastest time in 1:47.15 followed by classmate
Jason Ivins (Ewing, NJ/Notre Dame), who finished in 1:48.68.
The Lions remain at home next Saturday, facing one of their toughest dual meet opponents of the season. Southern Connecticut University will visit TCNJ's Aquatic Center at 2 p.m. on November 2.
