Meet results
New York, NY … The College of New Jersey swimming and diving team raced past a talented New York University squad 168-128 on Saturday afternoon in New York, NY.
The two programs were both ranked eighth in College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) polls that were released earlier this week. The Lions came out and won six of the first seven events to take command of the dual meet from the get-go.
Sophomore
James Shangle (Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park) had a big day as he won the 200-yard individual medley, 100-breaststroke, 200-backstroke, and contributed to the 200-medley relay victory. He paced the field in the 200-IM with a winning time of 1:57.68, captured the 100-breast in 58.95, and won the 200-breast in 2:08.86.

Aleksander Burzynski (Colonia, NJ/St. Joseph's), sophomore
Joseph Dunn (Fanwood, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood), and freshman
Andrew Nesbitt (Somerset, NJ/St. Joseph's) to win the 200-medley relay in 1:34.85.
Burzynski took top honors in both individual backstroke events. He won the 100- with a finish of 53.75, and the 200-back in 1:581.6.
Freshman
Ryan Gajdzisz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) continued his hot start with first-place finishes in the 1,00-yard freestyle (9:488.43) and 500-free in 4:47.86. Senior
Stephen Tarnowski (Ramstein, Germany/Ramstein American) touched the wall first in the 200-free with a time of 1:43.44. Rookie
Anthony Musto (Ringoes, NJ/Hunterdon Central) captured the 200-butterfly in 1:57.23.
Dunn and Nesbitt joined senior
Philip Hawley (Eastampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley and junior
Brian Perez (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) to win the 400-free relay in 3:10.72.
Sophomore
Daniel Tsinis (East Brunswick) had a top score in the 3-meter diving event. He racked up 304.20 points and also placed second in the 1-meter with 269.22 points.
The Lions (4-0) face another tough opponent next weekend when they visit seventh-ranked Stevens Institute of Technology next Saturday, November 23 at 1 p.m.
