Five TCNJ athletes garner NJAC honors



 Ewing, NJ...  Five student-athletes from The College of New Jersey were honored by the New Jersey Athletic Conference for their performances during the week ending February 17, 2013.
 
The men's swimming and diving team won its seventh straight Metropolitan Conference Championship thanks in large part to senior Adam Schneider (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill East) and freshman James Shangle (Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park). Schneider won the 100-butterfly event and broke his own program record in the 50-free. He also contributed to the 200-free relay that posted an NCAA automatic qualifying time and a pair of NCAA B-cut times. For his achievements, Schneider was named NJAC Swimmer of the Week.
 
Shangle place second, third and fourth in the 200- and 400-breast,along with the 200-individual relay. He registered NCAA B-cut times in each as well as contributing to provisional time in the 200-medley relay. For the fifth time this year, Shangle was named NJAC Rookie of the Week.
 
Senior Danica Roskos (Pennington, NJ/Hopewell Valley) was named MET Diver of the Meet for the third straight year. She won the 1- and 3-meter diving events in convincing fashion and was selected NAC Diver of the Week for the seventh time this season.
 
Classmate Kayleigh Shangle (Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park) won the 100-breast at METs and finished runner-up in the 200-breast. She raced to NCAA provisional times in each event along with contributing to B-cut times in a pair of relay races. Shangle earned NJAC Swimmer of the Week honors for the fifth time in 2012-13.
 
In men's indoor track and field, senior Michael Berti (Brick, NJ/Brick Memorial) raced his way to being named NJAC Track Athlete of the Week. He was part of a pair of relay teams that met ECAC qualifying standards. Berti competed in the 4x800 and distance medley relays event.
