Meet resultsEwing, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's swimming and diving team dropped a dual meet to New York University 179-115 on Saturday afternoon in TCNJ's Aquatic Center.

It marked the first loss of the season for the Lions (3-1) after winning their first three meets to open the 2014-15 campaign.

TCNJ opened up with an 11-point victory in the 200-yard medley relay as senior
Aleksander Burzinski (Colonia, NJ/St. Joseph's), junior
James Shangle (Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park), junior
Joseph Dunn (Fanwood, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) and senior
Brett Pedersen (Sewell, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) combined to post a winning time of 1:33.86.

Sophomore
Ryan Gajdzisz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) followed with a runner-up finish in the 1000-freestyle. He touched the wall in 9:52.98 to gain four points.

The Lions took top honors in the next three events. Sophomores
Andrew Nesbitt (Somerset, NJ/St. Joseph's) and
Scott Vitabile (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown) finished one-two in the 200-free. Nesbitt registered the fastest time in 1:43.90, while Vitabile finished in 1:45.10. Sophomore
Jin Roh (Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) captured the 100-backstroke event in 52.85 and Shangle followed with a top finish in the 100-breaststroke in 57.74.

The Violets responded by winning eight straight events. TCNJ received second-place efforts from Pedersen in the 50- and 100-free, Shangle in the 200-breast, Gajdzisz in the 500-free and 200-individual medley and Dunn in the 100-butterfly.

The Lions claimed the final event of the meet by winning the 400-free relay. Dunn, Nesbitt, senior
Brian Perez (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) and Pedersen clocked a finishing time of 3:09.61 to defeat NYU by less than a half-second.

TCNJ will host their annual, three-day invitational from Friday, December 5 through Sunday, December 7.
