Meet resultsGlassboro, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's swimming and diving team was tested by its toughest conference foe, but emerged victorious as they defeated Rowan University 155.5-138.5 in Glassboro, NJ.

The Lions (6-2) trailed the Profs by five points entering the final two races and responded to the challenge with bite. TCNJ came through in the clutch, outscoring Rowan 29-7 in the 200-individual medley and 400-freestyle relay to secure the win.

The Lions took a giant leap towards capturing their seventh consecutive New Jersey Athletic Conference championship with the win. They need to defeat William Paterson University on Saturday, February 7 to continue their title streak and unbeaten string of dual meets in NJAC competition.

In the 200-IM, TCNJ swept the top three spots led by sophomore
Ryan Gajdzisz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood). He posted the fastest time in the event in 1:50.90 followed by classmate
Jin Roh (Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly) and freshman
Chris O'Sullivan (Lebanon, NJ/Voorhees). Roh finished in 1:58.16 and O'Sullivan in 1:59.26.

The Lions clinched the meet in the 400-free relay as junior
Joseph Dunn (Fanwood, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood), sophomore
Scott Vitabile (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown),
Brian Perez (Matawan, NJ/St. John Vianney) and senior
Brett Pedersen (Sewell, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) combined to claim the top spot. They completed the circuit with a winning time of 3:06.71.

Gajdzisz had a big day for TCNJ as he also won the 1000- and 500-freestyle races. He touched the wall first in the 1000 in 9:50.06 and in 500 in 4:41.71. Roh won the 200-backstroke in 1:58.06 and finished runner-up in the 100-back to teammate
Aleksander Burzynski (Colonia, NJ/St. Joseph's). Burzynski won the event in 53.49, while Roh posted 54.28.
In the 200-free, Vitabile was the top finisher in 1:43.87. He was followed by sophomore
Jason Ivins (Ewing, NJ/Notre Dame), who took second in 1:47.19. Freshman
Logan Barnes (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington) continued to shine in his rookie season with a blue-ribbon finish in the 200-butterfly in 1:59.57. In the sprint fly, Dunn registered the fastest time in 50.70. Vitabile placed second, clocking 51.73.

The team of Burzynski, junior
James Shangle (Highland Park, NJ/Highland Park), Vitabile and Pedersen won the opening 200-medley relay event. They won the race with a finish of 1:35.75.

The fifth-ranked Lions are off next weekend and return to action in TCNJ's Aquatic Center on Saturday, February 7 at 2 p.m.. With a victory over WPU, TCNJ would clinch the NJAC championship on Senior Day.
