Ewing, NJ … The College of New Jersey men's swimming and diving team posted an impressive victory over Stevens Institute of Technology, 172-89 on Friday night in Packer Hall.

The Lions (5-3) flashed their depth with a balanced blend of rookies and veterans excelling in the lanes. Freshman
Derek Kneisel (Linwood, NJ/Mainland Regional), senior
Sean Johnson (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough), sophomore
Alex Skoog (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood, and senior
Adam Coppola (Kearny, NJ/High Tech) set the tone in the opening race, winning the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:34.43.

Kneisel had a big night for the Lions, also capturing top honors in the 50- and 100-backstroke events, while also placing third in the 50-butterfly. Coppola won the 50-free and also contributed to the 200-free relay win with fellow seniors
Ryan Gajdzisz (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood),
Scott Vitabile (East Windsor, NJ/Hightstown), and
Andrew Nesbitt (Somerset, NJ/St. Joseph's).

Gajdzisz touched the wall first in the 100-free with a finish of 47.31 and took runner-up in the 200-free to freshman
Harrison Yi (Tenafly, NJ/Tenafly). Yi and TCNJ swept the top three spots in the 500-free event. Yi posted a winning time of 4:47.27, followed by Gajdzisz in 4:48.52, and junior
Logan Barnes (Columbus, NJ/Northern Burlington) in 4:49.37.

Johnson, Nesbitt,
Vince Masciandaro (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee), and junior
Chris O'Sullivan (Lebanon, NJ/Voorhees) finished one through four in the 50-fly. Johnson registered a winning time of 29.96. Nesbitt, Masciandaro, and Johnson posted the top three spots in the100-breaststroke as Nesbitt won the race in 59.37.

TCNJ returns to Packer Hall for its final regular season meet next Saturday, February 4
th when they host William Paterson University at 2 p.m.
