NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The TCNJ women's swimming and diving team posted strong times on day one of the MET Championships on Friday. The Lions are currently second overall behind 24
th-ranked Rowan. TCNJ currently has 492 points, behind the 564 for the Profs.
Zoe Chan posted the swim of the day for the Lions. Chan broke the program record in the 200-IM with a winning swim of 2:07.48, besting the old record of 2:07.51 posted by Ava Kiss in 2008.
Melanie Fosko was fourth in the event with
Kori Jelinek posting a personal best for seventh.
Samantha Askin and
Darby VanDeVeen finished 12
th and 13
th.
The Lions had started the day with a second-place finish in the 200-free relay.
Cameron Carrazza,
Rachel Hannah,
Kazia Moore, and
Shannon Hesse stopped the clock at 1:37.29.
Annie Menninger,
Faith Cortright, and
Nicki Meskin were third, fourth, and seventh in the 500-free. The swim for Meskin was a personal best.
Tricia Thomas posted a personal best to reach the B-Final.
Hesse and Hannah each posted personal bests in the 50-free to reach the A-Final. The pair finished fourth and fifth. Carrazza advanced to the A-Final as well and finished eighth.
Anna Kisker and
Megan Healey posted personal bests to reach the B-Final. They were joined by
Kazia Moore.
Hannah, Menninger, Chan, and Fosko stopped the clock at 3:51.77 for second in the 400-medley relay.
In the diving well,
Gabi Valladares posted a score of 401.09 in the 1-meter for second.
Hailey Stack was fourth with a score of 342.64.
In time trials on Thursday, Menninger narrowly missed an NCAA B-Cut in the 100-breast with a personal-best time of 1:04.97. Jelinek posted a personal best in the 200-fly with a time of 2:08.00.
The Lions will return to the pool for day two on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
