STARTING OFF STRONG

The 4-0 start is TCNJ's best since the 2000-01 season, when the Lions started 5-0. TCNJ hasn't began the season with a 6-0 start since the 1997-98 season. That year, the Lions went 22-5 and won the NJAC Championship.

"4-0 is a great start, and I'd have to attribute that to the way we practice," P.J. Ringel said. "Not only do we focus on basketball during the week, but we also work a lot on recovery. Looking at this weekend, we are going to approach the games one at a time and focus on playing our brand of basketball, which is fitted perfectly for the guys on our roster."

SWEEP OVER THE SCARLET RAPTORS

The Lions swept Rutgers-Camden last weekend by final scores of 72-49 and 58-50. In game one, Travis Jocelyn scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the way for the Lions. In game two, Jocelyn led the Lions again with 17 points. Danny Bodine scored 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field. Ringel filled the stat sheet with 12 points, six rebounds, six steals, and four assists.

TCNJ used a strong defensive effort to earn the second victory. The Lions forced 22 turnovers and limited Rutgers-Camden to just 30.8% shooting (4-of-13) from three-point range.

"One thing we've started to realize is that Friday's games are about preparation, strategy, and execution, while Saturday's games are about who wants to dig deep defensively to grind out a win," Ringel said.

UPPER HAND

Last season, the Lions swept Kean by final scores of 89-68 and 94-67. In game one, then-senior Ryan Jensen and Jocelyn both scored 23 points to lead the way for TCNJ. Then-senior Randall Walko paced the effort in game two with 24 points.

TCNJ has had the advantage in this head-to-head series lately. The Lions are 10-2 in the last 12 games against the Cougars dating back to Jan. 14, 2015.

SHOOTERS SHOOT

TCNJ has used the three-pointer to its success this year. The Lions are ranked fifth in all of NCAA Division III in made threes per game with an average of 12. Jocelyn ranks 18th in the nation and first in the NJAC with an average of 3.75 made trifectas per game.

RINGEL CLIMBING THE LADDER

Ringel has tallied 261 assists in his career which ranks sixth all-time in TCNJ history. He is 11 dimes shy of tying Tom Murphy for sixth all-time in program history and 12 shy of tying Greg Grant for fifth.

THE ROAD AHEAD

Only one more slate of games is on the regular-season schedule following this weekend. The Lions will conclude the regular season with a home-and-home against William Paterson on Feb. 26 and Feb. 27. The Lions will hold senior day on Feb. 26 to honor Ringel, Jocelyn, and Brandon Slaybaugh.
