Hall of Fame
Brittny Boyd ’06 enters the Hall of Fame as one of most talented and decorated athletes
in TCNJ history. She was a two-sport standout as a member of the Lions’ track and field
program as well as the women’s soccer program. She earned All-American honors in
both sports and left her imprint amongst the all-time greats in each program.
Boyd announced her athletic presence on campus promptly with 10 goals and three
assists as she was named NJAC Rookie of the Year. In her sophomore season, Boyd
found the back of the net six times as the Lions won the conference title and advanced
to the national semifinals. As a junior, Boyd led the Lions with 14 goals and six assists,
earning NSCAA All-American Third Team honors. In her final season, Boyd tallied a
career-high 15 goals and led TCNJ to a 22-1 record and a national runner-up finish.
Boyd finished her career with 45 goals, which ranks fourth all-time. She also netted 106
points, which also ranks fourth.
As a member of the track and field team, Boyd was an 18-time All-American and fivetime
national champion. Boyd specialized in the sprint and jumping events in indoor
and outdoor track. She garnered national honors in the 55, 100, 200, and 400-meters,
as well as the 4x100, and 4x400 relay events at the NCAA indoor and outdoor
championships. Boyd won back-to-back national titles in the outdoor 4x100 and 4x400
relays in 2004 and 2005. She also captured an indoor national title in the 4x400 relay in
2005.
The Lions’ track and field program enjoyed great success during Boyd’s tenure. They
posted three top 10 finishes at the NCAA championships and TCNJ also captured eight
New Jersey Athletic Conference titles.
Boyd still holds four indoor track program records and three program marks for the
outdoor season. For indoor competition, Boyd holds the record in the 400-meter, 4x200
relay, 4x400 relay, and long jump. In outdoor, she holds the mark in 4x100, 4x200, and
4x400 relay events.
In addition to a litany of individual honors, Boyd was named the 2004-2005 NJAC
Female Athlete of the Year. She left an unforgettable mark in the conference as Boyd
was twice the NJAC Female Athlete of the Year for Indoor/Outdoor Track and Field,
the Indoor Track Athlete of the Year, and a part of 11 New Jersey Athletic Conference
championships.
