The 1984 Wrestling Team went 17-0 on its way to a national title under head coach and TCNJ Athletics Hall of Famer Dave Icenhower, and it had a host of All-Americans. Bob Glaberman won the national title at 158 pounds. Orlando Caceres (126) and Ron Bussey (150) each finished second, and Larry DeSimone (142) and Bob Henig (190) each finished third. Dwayne Standridge (177) finished in eighth place to give the Lions six All-Americans on the squad.

The team won the national title in Binghamton, N.Y., with a team score of 96.75, far outpacing its closest competition. Augsburg came in second place with a team score of 68.5, and Binghamton was third with a team score of 62.5.

Glaberman won the national title at 158 pounds after winning five bouts in that tournament. In the championship match, he defeated Bruce Arvold of Augsburg, 8-4, to claim the title. It was Glaberman’s second national championship in three years after winning the same title in 1982.

Caceres earned a second-place finish after losing by default in the finals. In the summer following this tournament, Caceres represented Puerto Rico at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.Bussey lost a close 5-4 decision in the finals at 150 to the top seed in the tournament after entering as the second-seeded wrestler in the weight class.
